From Strategy to Storytelling: How Supriya Nistala Shapes Digile’s Brand

As Marketing Director, Supriya Nistala brings together thoughtful strategy and authentic storytelling to strengthen Digile’s voice in a fast changing tech landscape. Her leadership ensures that every campaign is aligned with business outcomes while building meaningful and lasting connections with our audience.

What has your journey at Digile been like so far, and what excites you most about leading the marketing function here?

My journey at Digile has been a mix of building from scratch and evolving in real time. When I joined, the ask wasn’t just to “do marketing,” but to shape how the company shows up in the world. From clarifying our positioning to building platforms, narratives, and momentum, it’s been hands-on and deeply collaborative.

When you talk about Digile to someone new, what part of the brand or story are you most proud to share?

I am proud of being part of a team that understands both technology and business realities, and builds solutions that actually work on the ground, not just on slides.

How do you usually approach turning big business goals into marketing strategies that feel relatable and authentic?

I always start with context. Who is this for, what problem are they really trying to solve, and what’s at stake for them personally or professionally? Once that’s clear, strategy becomes about translation, not just promotion. I focus on storytelling rooted in truth, customer reality, and clear value, rather than hype.

AI is reshaping marketing in many ways. How are you looking at its role, and where do you see the biggest opportunities?

I see AI as an enabler, not as a replacement. It’s incredibly powerful for research, pattern recognition, content scaffolding, and speed, but judgment, positioning, and narrative still need human clarity. The biggest opportunity is using AI to free up time from repetitive work so marketers can focus more on strategy, creativity, and decision-making. Used responsibly, it makes marketing smarter and faster, not noisier.

What is one leadership lesson you learned the hard way that now shapes how you lead today?

The lesson I have learnt is that "clarity is kindness". Assuming people “will figure it out” usually leads to confusion, misalignment, and frustration. I’ve learned that being explicit about expectations, priorities, and feedback is not micromanagement. It’s respect. That lesson has fundamentally shaped how I communicate and lead today. And I am proud of way my team functions - each is independent, yet inter-dependent and collaborative.

What does a strong and healthy team culture mean to you as a leader?

To me, a healthy culture is one where people feel trusted, heard, and safe to challenge ideas. It’s not about being agreeable all the time. It’s about being honest, accountable, and supportive. I value teams where learning is encouraged, ownership is shared, and people feel comfortable bringing both ideas and concerns to the table.

What is something you are currently focused on improving in your leadership style?

I’m actively working on stepping back more and empowering others to lead without feeling the need to be involved in every detail. Letting go is a skill, especially when you care deeply about quality. I’m learning to trust my team’s strengths and create space for them to grow into leadership themselves.

On a personal note, what do you enjoy doing outside of work that helps you reset and recharge?

Spending time with my family is my biggest reset. I also enjoy quiet routines, good coffee, yoga, cooking, and anything that gives me mental space to slow down. Those moments help me come back to work more grounded, focused, and creative.
